Voting Should Be Accessible to Everyone: Resources for Every Voter

posted by Maghan Bowman on Tuesday, October 27, 2026

With one week until the election, we want to emphasize that every voice matters. Voting is one way individuals can help shape their communities, advocate for issues they care about, and participate in the decisions that affect their daily lives.

At EPI, we believe that access and inclusion extend beyond services and supports. They also include opportunities for civic engagement. Whether you're voting for the first time, helping a family member prepare to vote, or looking for accessible voting resources, there are options available to help make the voting process easier to navigate.

Three Ways to Vote

Voters can choose the option that works best for them:

  • Vote early in person at your county's auditor's office. [Check with your county auditor's office for your location]
  • Vote by mail using an absentee ballot.
  • Vote on Election Day at your assigned polling location.

Assistance Is Available

Many people are unaware that voters who need assistance are welcome to bring someone with them to help complete their ballot. If a voter arrives without support, two election workers from different political parties can also provide assistance. This helps ensure that individuals can vote independently while maintaining privacy and dignity.

Prepare Before You Go

Taking a few minutes to prepare can help make voting day less stressful.

Before heading to the polls:

  • Verify your voter registration status.
  • Confirm your polling location.
  • Make sure you have an acceptable form of voter identification. Iowa law requires voters to present an approved ID when voting.

Helpful Resources

We took the time to find resources about voter registration, absentee voting, polling locations, voter identification requirements, and Election Day procedures.

Everyone Deserves a Voice

Participating in our communities takes many forms. For some, that means volunteering. For others, it means advocating for a cause they care about. Voting is another way to make your voice heard.

As Election Day approaches, we encourage eligible voters, family members, caregivers, and community supporters to take time to learn about their options and make a plan to vote.
