posted on Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Waterloo, IA - After extensive review conducted by three surveyors over three days, Exceptional Persons, Inc. (EPI) has been granted re-accreditation for three more years from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative Facilities (CARF) for seven programs serving individuals with disabilities.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial commitment to the CARF standards and ongoing self evaluation to continually reach for the highest standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during on-site visits and records review that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

In its comprehensive accreditation report, CARF specifically highlighted numerous strengths at EPI, including: [EPI] demonstrates exceptional advocacy, support, and investment in improving the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities; the organization employs tenured, well-trained and compassionate staff members who are committed to the mission and values of EPI; EPI appears to have a strong financial position as a result of its stewardship, planning, sound business plans and practices.

EPI received re-accreditation for seven programs which include: Community Services: Community Housing, Community Integration, Respite Services, Supported Living and Community Employment Services: Job Development, Job Supports, Job-Site Training.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
