Employment Opportunities

EPI employs over 400 staff in a variety of job positions. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, as well as a variety of work hours.

All positions require a criminal record check, post job offer drug test, and documentation of required education. Some job positions require a post job offer physical, a good driving record, current driver license, and proof of auto insurance.

Current Job Openings

Due to the size and scope of service, two job positions consistently have openings- Supported Living Staff and Children's Services.The qualifications are: high school diploma or equivalent; one year continuous employment; good driving record; current driver license; proof of auto insurance; and reliable vehicle needed to transport clients in the community.

Community Living Direct Support Positions:

Job Title: Supported Living Staff for Adults
Starting Wages: SLS 2:  $9.10-$10.35 based on experience & education
Responsibilities:

Provide support, supervision and training to adults with mental retardation, other developmental disabilities and physical disabilities in a residential setting.

Job Title: Direct Support Staff (CLC) for Adults
Starting Wages: $10.50-$11.75 based on experience & education
Responsibilities:

Provide support, supervision and training to adults with mental illness and acquired brain injuries in a residential setting.

Job Titles: In-Home and Group Child Care-Part Tme
Starting Wages: Group/In-Home Respite Provider: $8.20-$9.35 based on experience & education     
  SCL Provider: $9.10-$10.35 based on experience & education
   
Responsibilities:

Provide care to children with special needs allowing family care providers a brief respite. This is done on a one-to-one basis, and also through group care offered after school and on weekends.

Extensive training is provided in all job positions at time of hire, as needed, and on an on-going basis. Required training includes Mandatory Reporter, Medication Management, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and OSHA "Right To Know". Training such as Overview of Disabilities, Confidentiality and Ethics, Managing Children, and Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination are examples of additional training that supports quality service and employee confidence.

Applications are also available with the receptionist at the administrative office located at 760 Ansborough Ave., Waterloo, IA. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Opportunities for Students

The positions described above provide excellent experience for students majoring in special education, elementary education, early childhood development, social work, family services, psychology, sociology, therapeutic recreation, and the health services field. Often, students choose to work full-time during the summer months, and reduce to part-time during the school year.
