Extensive training is provided in all job positions at time of hire, as needed, and on an on-going basis. Required training includes Mandatory Reporter, Medication Management, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and OSHA "Right To Know". Training such as Overview of Disabilities, Confidentiality and Ethics, Managing Children, and Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination are examples of additional training that supports quality service and employee confidence.

All Direct Support Professional (DSP) positions require a reliable vehicle to transport clients, valid driver’s license, current auto insurance and able to provide two work/supervisor references. Above average writing and computer skills are required. One year of continuous employment is preferred. Post job offer physical with drug screen required.

Opportunities for Students
The positions described above provide excellent experience for students majoring in special education, elementary education, early childhood development, social work, family services, psychology, sociology, therapeutic recreation, and the health services field. Often, students choose to work full-time during the summer months, and reduce to part-time during the school year.
